happy canada day!

Yes, I know it was a few weeks ago ... but hey, it is still July!!!!

summer update

We are now approaching the end of July and I just noticed my last post was in March ?!?!?!?!?! Instead of monthly, I am thinking quarterly updates are more realistic.

So what have we been up to? Highlights include two trips to Ontario, one at the beginning of April for my dad's 60th birthday (a surprise for him). Between my birthday, his, and my mom's retirement we had a week of festivities, including some mighty fine cakes. I was a great, family filled visit (we even got in a few days in Niagara Falls), but it was good to get home and detox.

The second trip was a quick long weekend early June to Toronto to catch Leonard Cohen - definately worth the trip, and one of the best shows we had ever seen. We were also able to catch a family reunion while there, and experience a heat wave.

July brought the return of the Tall Ships. A lot of work (there is a reason they only come every 3 years), but a lot of fun. The crews are great to work with, and they really enjoy their visit here. Mother Nature cooperated again, for the most part, with sunny weather, once the fog burned off each day.

Immediately following the departure of the Tall Ships we were into a wedding celebration. Next weekend we are off to Whistler for the weekend to celebrate S's mom's 70th birthday - we are looking forward to the fun weekend away.

We are hoping August will bring some camping opportunities.

adventures with Tonquin

About 6 weeks ago we picked up a new kitten. Yes, I am just getting around to getting some pictures up now ... she is looking more like a young cat these days than a kitten.

She was very skiddish at first, having lived her first few months in a small room with a brother and sister ... it has taken her time to get used to all of the "moving walls" (windows) in our place, but she is behaving more like she owns the place every day.

le sigh ...

This photo was taken on July 25, 2004 from my condo, which we have decided to put on the market (fingers crossed!).

No regrets or remorse, the little place has served me and others well over the years. The sigh is not for letting it go ... how can you not sigh when looking at a sunset photo like that, and it is a photo I will always have.

I hope it's next owner sighs too when they see the view.

the critters in our neighbourhood

... so I am cleaning up my computer a bit and found this pic I took out of the home office window one morning soon after we moved in ...

Yes, that would be a black bear strolling by my car.
